You say "I suck"...

but you don't suck, man. This sounds like an awesome start to me.
I want to hear the completed track! Bad-ass-ness all around, hehe! Heavy, sweet drums, great wobbly dubby bass, and superb drop! :) Crank this badboy out already!

Peace!

If VNV Nation went orchestral,

this great tune would be the result. :) Quite peaceful and spacious indeed.

Would you extend this? Please?? I could use some more good meditation music.

Peace,
~Justin

just for you Floyd, I will. although I tend to like projects less when I go back and mess with them, I'll risk it.

Great sounds

Wow, those opening and ending pad sounds are heavenly!
My only constructive criticism would be to maybe try adding little "lead-in" sounds (like reverse cymbals, or drum rolls) between your transitions, to help smooth the sections out--each section stand great on its own, now just place a 'smoother' here and there, and everything will be even more awesome!

That pause/drop at 1:37-ish is great!

Try making the kick drum sound slightly clearer, so it pops out in the mix more, it's just a bit too hidden--it's a wet, Psytrance-y kick sound, which is nice, and it should stand out nicely like you did with your crisp snare drum. :)

(My uncle Sam is from Brazil, so cheers!)

Peace,
~Justin

Wonderful your comment and suggestion! Will highlight tips and maybe end up doing a mix of this song?

From my heart, thank you so much!

Serenity and Chaos

Your music fits all of my poems somehow perfectly...

i left for the edges of the sunset skies,
days once fallen again enflamed,
a hollow world through winter eyes,
dusk and death now mine reclaimed.

like a prelude to a decayed cortex.....
corrupted by time itself.....
its most dearest friend turned into a leech....

The grace and terror of falling

Happily reminded me of another old poem to share:

~~~~
cliffs
the charcoal-green mountain's cool eyes
settle in us marble stone
where a diamond would sleep.
a ghost has snuffed the candle Sun-
forest-black rivers lay snakes in winter,
and dirty cotton sky is torn on shrapnel of earth,
as masked children run from gas, off cliffs.
hesitantly stepping on the edge.....
ready to take the leap.......
glory he doesnt seek.....
but silence and the empty void of death....
Sublime morphing!
As I listened to this, it reminded me of an old poem of mine, that I'd like to share with you, as a tribute to your wonderful piece!
What melody strains within the heart!
visions of such saddened beauties do impart,
of Romantics awakened as each dream swells,
even now, amidst the crying chaos, the music fells
the earthly world for freedom of my very soul,
and lets darkness comfort all who hear it tell,
the peace of sunset and of stars that gently dole!
I listen once, again, and thrice again,
and each time thereafter, floats the pain,
of the truest origins one finds within,
and let the music's graceful sorrow win,
and though it may be not the true Despair,
such fervidness is surely kin!,
to the solace I found, eternal, there!
thank you....
you are the only one that understands silence...
Wicked blend!
\m/ Hell yeah man!
Awesome mix of guitars and drum'n'synth programming!!
What did you use to record this crunchy riff-o-liciousness?
Peace!
Splendid!
Somber, yet courageous...!
This reminds me of my favourite part with Murray Gold's "Doomsday" song, as Rose gets sucked into the gate and she and David Tennent are separated after the Dalek battle, hehe! :P
lanky21 responds:
thanks for the words Floyd! I enjoyed that part as well. everyone who enjoys the doctor gets an automatic +10 to their awesomeness.
Spacious...
and gracious... and simple, and catchy. :) Nice reverb tones and chordal choices. Although this is meant as more of a "winter" piece as you say, I get a warm feeling from it. ;)
Peace!
lanky21 responds:
well you're wrong. so very wrong. thanks for this waste of a review....
jk Floyd, I always appreciate your words. glad you enjoyed my song!
On the way!!
Definitely has Pendulum influence!! :) I'm heartily looking forward to the finished tune, mate!! This would be grand to slip into CDJs and pump at a party, hehe!
